With the two successive funding of Sky3 Seed Foundation (in 2016 and 2017), on May 24, 2016, I reported the story of the children in the cliff village climbing the rattan ladder for schooling titled Village on the Cliff in The Beijing News. On the very day, General Secretary Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Wang Yang made written instructions, so did Wang Dongming, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee. Lin Shucheng, Secretary of Liangshan Prefecture Party Committee sent a working group headed by the deputy prefecture governor and consisted of the responsible persons of poverty alleviation, finance, transportation, planning and other sectors to the cliff village to make field research and discuss the solutions.

In July 2016, the steel ladder began to be built. By November 2016, most part of the construction was completed. In September 2017, the steel ladder construction, with a total investment of about 3 million yuan, was completed. It once for all solved the safety travel problem for the children and more than 400 villagers of the cliff village.

In addition, the report has also attracted the 13 million yuan of investments from the state and communities for the expansion of the Atu Le’er Primary School, which was completed and put into use in November 2017.

The report of the cliff village has also attracted further support of poverty alleviation projects from the state, the provinces and cities. 12 million yuan was invested for the power grid transformation. More than 10 million yuan was put into the construction of freight cableway. Some of the farming and breeding projected were landed one by one. In a matter of a year or more, the average income of the villagers in the cliff village was increased by 7 folds, and more than 90% of the whole village was out of poverty.

By the end of 2017, the investment planning of 600 million yuan for a tourism project was completed and passed the assessment of the relevant departments to be constructed in the cliff village. This project takes the cliff village as the core and extends to the unexploited natural landscape with unique features in the surrounding areas of more than 10 kilometres. It is to build green tourism destination in the future.

During the NPC&CPPCC held in March 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping made a special mention about the cliff village issue while attending the plenary meeting of the Sichuan delegation, and requested them to take the matter of the cliff village as an example and do a good job on the poverty alleviation in China.
