Children’s Public Welfare Painting Exhibition “Draw a Rainbow” was launched yesterday in Oriental Pearl Plaza. During Children’s Day, forty paintings by the children from the mountain area and forty paintings by those from cities will be shown together in The Oriental Pearl Tower. More than 50 children drew a long picture scroll themed “Draw a Rainbow” on the spot, depicting a better tomorrow enjoyed by children both in cities and in mountain areas as a gift for “Children’s Day”.

One of this event’s sponsors, Mo Fan, the founder of Maitian Education Foundation, told the visitors about the whole process of planning the exhibition. In June 2005, the volunteers of Maitian went to Yunnan to give art lessons for children. He saw that children there loved painting very much, even though some children never knew there was ever a course called “fine arts”. From then on, he has begun to collect paintings from children in mountain areas for six years, hoping that one day these children’s paintings in mountain areas and their peers’ paintings in cities could be exhibited together to realize an impossible dream of children in mountain areas and build a rainbow bridge of communication.

The event is jointly organized by Maitian Education Foundation, Youth Daily, Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Co., Ltd and Tencent Weibo. According to the organizers, they will move to the MetroCity to continue the exhibition in August after the exhibition of the Oriental Pearl, and then Maitian will hold this kind of exhibition successively in major cities and other mountain areas nationwide.

It is also known that as the landmark of Shanghai, The Oriental Pearl Tower has also seen the launch of a parent-child tour-themed special offer “Big Hands Take Small Hands to Visit Pearl Tower Together” during the Children’s Day period, so that children can enjoy a happy day in the tower.
